WEEKLY MOWING
To properly care for your turf and encourage it to be healthy and looking good we need to be on your property weekly. Weekly mowing service is scheduled from April through the first week of October, depending on the weather. We then move to every other week mowing in the Fall and then once a month in the Winter. Your turf never wants more than 1/3 cut off at any time, and by being weekly we can maintain your property the way it needs to be cared for. We are also able to catch problems before they get out of hand.
Mowing height is very important in regards to the health of your lawn. We will mow your grass at the height that is best for your grass type or your personal preference (just remember taller grass handles the summer heat and drought better). Each grass, Bermuda and St. Augustine, needs to be maintained differently. We take this into consideration when caring for your yard.
St. Augustine is the least cold tolerant of the warm season grasses and our winter snows may weaken this lawn. This damage will show up later on in the summer when the heat is greater than the already stressed turf can handle. It is not very drought tolerant and so it needs regular watering throughout the growing season to survive. It performs better in the shade. We maintain St. Augustine at 3 to 5 inches.
Bermuda is the most commonly used turf grass. It will not tolerate shade and that is why it is very thin on the North side of your house. It is drought tolerant but will go dormant and turn brown in the hot summer, regular watering is needed to keep it green. We maintain Bermuda at 2 to 3 inches.
Each grass also needs to be mowed a little higher in shaded areas to allow for adequate photosynthesis. We'd love to talk to you about your yard and how we can care for its individual needs.
